Job Title: Laboratory technician – Molecular Reports to: Lab Manager Location: 60 Meter Road, Mamostayan Qr., Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq Position Overview: The Home Laboratory Service (HLS) Staff Member is responsible for providing safe, professional, and timely laboratory specimen collection services at patients' homes, workplaces, hotels, or other approved locations. The staff member ensures proper patient identification, specimen collection, handling, documentation, transportation, and coordination with the laboratory while maintaining patient safety, confidentiality, and service quality. Responsibilities, Duties, and Accountabilities: A. Specimen Reception and Processing Receive and verify specimens according to laboratory procedures. Confirm patient identification, specimen type, collection container, labeling, and volume. Check specimens for suitability, leakage, contamination, incorrect collection, or other rejection criteria. Process specimens according to the requirements of the requested molecular test. Ensure specimens are stored under the appropriate conditions before, during, and after testing. Maintain proper specimen traceability throughout the testing process. Report unsuitable or rejected specimens to the responsible supervisor. B. Molecular Testing Perform assigned molecular diagnostic tests according to approved SOPs and manufacturer's instructions. Perform nucleic acid extraction and purification according to established procedures. Prepare reagents, master mixes, controls, and samples accurately. Perform PCR and real-time PCR procedures as applicable. Operate molecular diagnostic platforms and associated equipment within the technician's competency. Follow approved procedures for qualitative and quantitative molecular assays. Perform manual or automated molecular testing as assigned. Ensure appropriate positive, negative, internal, and other required controls are included in each run. Recognize invalid, inhibited, contaminated, or otherwise unacceptable runs and follow the appropriate corrective procedure. Perform repeat testing when required according to laboratory criteria. C.
