Job Vacancy: Substation Project Manager Location: Erbil Employment Type: Full-time About Us: Shandz, founded in 1976, is an established EPC company delivering energy and infrastructure solutions across Iraq. Key Responsibilities: Manage substation projects throughout the full EPC lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, testing, energization, commissioning, handover, close-out, and maintenance activities. Develop and implement project execution plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and delivery milestones. Ensure projects are completed within the approved scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and contractual requirements. Coordinate engineering activities across civil, electrical, protection, control, communication, and SCADA disciplines. Manage project teams, site personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project resources. Monitor procurement, manufacturing, material delivery, construction, installation, and site progress against the project schedule. Review technical specifications, drawings, BOQs, method statements, material submissions, and other project documentation. Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, quality plans, company procedures, and applicable IEC/IEEE standards. Identify and manage technical, contractual, commercial, financial, and schedule-related risks. Manage variations, change orders, claims, delays, and other contractual or commercial matters in coordination with relevant departments. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, government authorities, utilities, and other project stakeholders. Lead project kickoff, coordination, progress, technical, and management-review meetings. Monitor project costs, cash flow, forecasts, invoicing, and overall financial performance. Prepare and submit accurate progress, cost, risk, quality, HSE, and management reports. Oversee testing, energization, commissioning, final documentation, snag-list closure, warranty obligations, and successful project handover. Plan and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities for substation equipment and systems to ensure safe operation, reliability, and minimal downtime. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in electrical power or EPC projects, including at least five years managing substation projects. Demonstrated experience delivering high-voltage substations, preferably covering AIS/GIS substations between 33 kV and 400 kV. Strong technical knowledge of transformers, switchgear, protection and control systems, SCADA, cabling, and balance-of-plant equipment. Experience managing engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and energization activities. Strong knowledge of project planning, budgeting, cost control, risk management, contract administration, claims, and change management. Familiarity with applicable IEC/IEEE standards and relevant HSE and quality requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience using ERP systems, preferably Odoo, is an advantage. PMP or an equivalent project-management certification is an advantage. Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, stakeholder-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, make effective decisions under pressure, and meet project deadlines. Professional proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Willingness to travel regularly and work at project sites across Iraq.
